Dear Parents and Caregivers,
The Parents and Citizens' Association (P&C) is a committee made up of caring community minded people, parents and citizens who take a more formal role to assist the school in providing feedback on school policies and activities, additional resources to be used to enhance student learning, and are actively involved in their child's education.
All Calliope State Schools families are invited to share and contribute to the success of our school, by offering what you can, when you can.
Your contributions can make a difference to the school community and your children's education outcomes not to mentions making new friends along the way.
As a P&C member, not only are you supporting the school community, but you are supported by the school community. You can learn new skills and gain a clearer understanding of how the school operates. This is a great opportunity to share in the school's decision-making process and shape the future.
Everybody has a role to play and your ideas will be heard. The more people involved, the more exciting and successful it will be. And research shows that children perform better at school when their parents are involved in their education.
Our P&C executive committee members are friendly and approachable. If you wish to contribute or become a P&C member, please contact us via email or attend a meeting.
We appreciate your feedback and continually strive to improve our P&C.
How can I help?
- Are you interested in contributing your thoughts on school policy?
- Do you have a spare hour or two when you can to help out in the uniform, Tuckshop or a fundraising stall?
- Can you find an hour once a month to attend a P&C meeting?
These are all ways you can be part of your school's P&C.
Just by joining your P&C, you can add your voice to what's happening in the school.
As a P&C member, you can contribute opinions on:
- Positive school-wide behaviours
- Student dress code
- School routines
- P&C budget
- School budget
- School surveys.
How our P&C contributes to the school community:
- Contributing financially toward school camps, excursions, graduation and sporting events - reducing the cost for parents/caregivers
- Purchasing school equipment such as classroom fridges, library resources and school furniture
- Provides resources such as sporting equipment and musical instruments.
- Enhances school facilities ie Fans in the hall, Prep shed
- Organising other fundraisers such as pie drives, Easter raffles, Mother's & Father's Day stalls, school discos and fun runs.
The things you do make a real difference, so why not join your P&C?
