School Starting Times

It has been noticed that a number of students are arriving at school well before the official start of the school day. This has significant implications for students as they are effectively extending their school day by up to 1 ¾ hours.
I’m sure that, as parents, we can all understand what adding this additional time to our own workday would mean in terms of productivity, focus and attention, not to mention the additional issue of supervision at that time of the morning. We are currently investigating the processes for the establishment of an outside school hours care (OSHC) program with the aim of having it in place for the commencement of the 2017 school year.
Until then, unless students are arriving on a bus, in which case there is little opportunity to vary arrival time, or if a student is engaged in a sanctioned before-school activity (eg Instrumental Music) students should not be arriving at school until after 8:05am. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
