CALLIOPE STATE SCHOOL CONSTRUCTION PROJECT

30/05/2016
Proposed new building design.

RE: CALLIOPE STATE SCHOOL CONSTRUCTION PROJECT

Dear Parent and Carers,

I apologise for the short notice, however, some exciting progress has been made on our new classroom and administration building. A start-up meeting was conducted this morning involving relevant stakeholders. The initial works, including the staff carpark, and earthworks for the building will be commencing tomorrow (Tuesday 31 May 2016) with the installation of safety barricades around the entire worksite. While this is exciting news and we look forward to the final product, it will also require some changes to our school access points and may impact on drop-off and pick-up zones.

Initially, all access from the pool side of the school will cease for the duration of the construction works. Additional pedestrian access has been provided via the double gates between the Resource Centre and the new Prep building. A new pathway will be constructed in this area in the next couple of weeks. Student bike racks will also be relocated to this area. Students are to be reminded to walk their bikes/scooters when between the pool and the railway bridge. This is vital to ensure the safe access for students, parents and visitors.

During the construction of the staff carpark, there may be some limitations to the number of parks available at the front of the school. As soon as the staff carpark is available, we will be provided access. I assure you that alternative arrangements are being investigated for this period and I request your understanding and patience during this phase.

The safety of students and staff is, and will remain, my number one priority during this construction project and I will ensure that the community is kept well informed of the processes as we move through this exciting time.

If you have any concerns or queries about anything included above, please do not hesitate to contact me via the school office.
